Makassar, South Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - Local women's care community Anging Mammiri socializes several migrant workers protection regulations to lower administrators (Lurah) in Makasar to prevent human trafficking.
The Angin Mamiri Community leader Rosmiati Sain said here on Thursday (6/1) the socialization is focusing on two sub-districts namely Manggala and Biringkanaya this week.
Due to the majority of migrant workers coming from these two sub districts it also become a consideration to focus on the protection regulation socialization.
"These sub-districts are known as the biggest contributor of most migrant workers, and clearly have human trafficking potentials," Rosmiati said.
The regulation is socialized under Law no 21/2007 on human trafficking eradication and local regulation no 9/2007 on Women and Children Trafficking Prevention and Elimination.
Rosmiati said that the socialization is intended for the "Lurah" as the lower administrator under a sub-district level because they are considered to know most of their residents.
The community also emphasized the importance of a Letter to Work documents that must be given to the employee candidates to prevent human trafficking.
"This act is done as a form of anti trafficking policy implementation monitoring," she said.
Besides socializing the matter, the community also builds monitoring posts in every "Kelurahan" which functioned as employee candidate reporting base and to create worker and employer identification database.
"We also assist job seekers to identify, whether the company is really meeting the qualifications," she said. (A050/H-NG)
